As far back as I can remember, all I wanted to do was to cut hair. So you could say, I have my dream job!
I started my career at 15-years-old, and was qualified by the age of 18. I Joined the Ken Picton salon two years ago, I and love the vibe of the salon and working as part of a great team. I specialise in cutting hair but also enjoy colour work, too.

I've been hairdressing for 12 years and joined the Ken Picton team in 2009. I work in all aspects of hairdressing including cutting, styling and hair-up, especially bridal work. Outside of my salon work, I love doing photo shoots and presenting at shows. I absolutely love what I do, and feel very fortunate that my job is spending my days making my clients look and feel great.

Just arrived home from Canada!! Still a little jet lagged thought it would be a good oppertunity to update my blog for you all..... Last week saw myself and ken jet off to Montreal, to take a 2 day course on Shu Uemura art of hair, we flew out Friday morning (after my first ever oyster experience at the champagne bar in heathrow!) We stayed in the old part of the Montreal, so Friday night gave us an opportunity to explore the city, with a skyline that would rival New York and a vibe of stylish Parisian chique a truly stunning place, from skyscrapers to horse and carts, definitely a city ill be re visiting, Saturday started with a model prep in the Montreal L'oreal studios, again a beautiful building not a bad place to work at all!! And the afternoon spent at the venu for the show a top floor studio with panoramic views across the port, prepping the venu along with watching ken prepair his presentations and show reels with the sound and lighting technicians, the evening was then followed up with a welcome cocktail party to welcome us both to Shu Uemura Canada, met some very inspiring people, so Sunday 8.30am the course commenced, and what a fantastic 2 days, not only did I have a great time assisting ken and helping teach everyone on the course about what we do, our signature looks and some new ways to use Shu Uemura, I actually found I learnt a great deal too!! From kens industry background, his Business, and Presentation skills through to some new practical techniques! All in all an amazing couple of days........stunning place, amazing people and an motivating inspiring course! a hard job.......... but someone's got to do it hey? ;) thanks Ken!!x

On Monday we went to London for the fellowship of British hairdressing's master class event, of which ken is now a fellow with honours! this event involves the masters of the hairdressing world show they're predictions of spring summer styles, within this they had a long hair (which ken was in)and short hair section, where the 6 platform artists show theyre 2 looks on stages around the room. We showed 2 looks, a pre done deep chocolate bob with hazelnut undercurrents, sticking with the Parisian chique look which is set to be huge this spring summer, and then a working model which ken did a creative cut an interior hiarcut with an outer diffused transparent shape, on long blond curly hair, and styled with l'oreal super dust to give a powdery pastel finish, another huge spring summer trend. The clothes were styled to give a "sports dulux" trend to the models. Great feedback! Great night!x

I've had a fantastic week loads of news for you all! firstly Kens invited me to accompany him to Montreal Canada for shu uemura this May! which is an absolutely amazing opportunity! and I am so excited!! that's an excuse for a new wardrobe if ever i saw one!! Thursday saw Ken and I head up to the L'oreal studios in Hammersmith to showcase our latest work and L'oreal professional products, we showcased a mixture of styles from Parisian chique bobs and Marcel waves to our younger pop art styles inspired by the L'oreal playballs, with zingy sherbet oranges and reds to dirty denim blues to give that fresh spring/summer vibe......Great day and loads of fantastic feed back! Yesterday saw the Breast Cancer care Wales fashion show, and we had the pleasure of being asked to be a part of it, spending the day pampering and glamming up these inspirational men and women for they're catwalk début was brilliant! a great day and loads of money raised for a good cause! All in all things are looking great! speak soon!x

Monday saw one of the biggest events in the hairdressing calender, the Fellowship Presidents Night, sadly this years president Terry Calvert passed away before his presidents evening, but on becoming president made a wish list of his top 20 hairdressers, ken being one of these was joined by the likes of Errol Douglas, Angelo Seminara, Beverly c and Andrew Collins to name a few, some of the industry's best known and most respected hairdressers, the evening itself burlesque themed was set perfectly in park lane, with a fantastic dinner, dancing and lots of glitz and glamour with all 20 hairdressers showing models of there interpretation of burlesque. ken opting for a beautiful vintage inspired burlesque look, ivory Basque and feathered bustle and flawless make-up complimented the punchy peach hair and perfectly polished waves with a 1940s pin up twist truly beautiful.

With the festive season well and truly behind us, and everyone fully refreshed, there's an exciting feeling for the year ahead, what a great month January's been! As a Salon we've seen the launch of the amazing Great Lengths hair extensions, Nicolas been to her colour congress and has some exciting insights into what's hot in colour this year, along with some beautiful new shades of colour, Daffydds been busy with Generation Now and the launch of trend vision 2011, and ken of course is as busy as always jet-setting across the world all in the name of Hair.... Myself, i'm thrilled to bits at receiving a promotion this month to my title Assistant Director, and taking my first trip of the year to London for the Coterie, a hair professionals networking event that took place on Monday 31 St January, firstly we had a talk off Janna Jatyri a trend predictor, who gave us a great insight to this spring/summers up and coming trends, among a few this seasons big trends for women include 'Modern 50s' (streamlined soft skirts, knits, structures finger waves and polished updo's).... 70s (block colour clothes, as seen in the current Gucci and Versace campaigns,Palazzo cut trousers, and big soft curls, a young Jerry Hall/ Bianca Jager look) and for Men's, key looks include a strong ironed out wet look, as seen in the current Prada campaign along with down turned quiff's and strong combing..... one of the key things to do this year is intermix different key trends. we also had the pleasure of listening to Luke Hersheson, from Daniel Hersheson salons, the man behind this months Victoria Beckhams front cover vogue shoot, and the creator of the Topshop 'Blowdry Bar' he has a huge passion for session styling and is the hairdresser with by far the highest number of celebrity shoots happening at the moment, as well as very successfully working the floor day to day in his booming Salon, has found a unique way of combining his two passions together,and is a truly inspiring hairdresser....all in all a very motivating and refreshing evening!x

Made a really great start on my look for the final stage of UK Wella Trend vision, have an absolutly stunning model who will work perfectly with my chosen trend, 'Natures Goddess' to give you a short run-down my theme brief is a very feninine look, showing richness and movement,to give an imperfectly perfect finish, along with a natural colour with rich, warm, glossy tones,which i then interpret however i feel, and have been having some great brainstorming sessions with lara our make up artist and linzi who has a great eye for seeking out the latest fashions. that along with my hours of research on the internet and magazines and trying out all my ideas on block heads and any willing friends its all looking very exciting!!

Hi. I've been in the hair and beauty industry for 15 years, and am approaching my 10th year at Ken Picton. I am as enthusiastic as I was when I started - if not more!
Since the birth of my two children I work part-time, but I still give 100% to the salon. I love working as part of a great artistic team which enables me to gain different skills from my colleagues. Working alongside Ken Picton himself is great as his knowledge of the industry and his many years of experience are invaluable. Plus his enthusiasm and vision does rub off on you.
A big part of my hairdressing philosophy is to push the boundaries and get myself to the next level. This includes a genuine passion for bridal/dressing hair. I work very closely with Lara (our fabulous make-up artist) to make a bride's day as special and stress-free as I can - you name it, Lara and I have done it! I've also had the pleasure of doing a cover shoot for a wellknown bridal magazine, and I loved every minute. 
I enjoy every aspect of my job, which allows me to offer a full range of hairdressing services to my clients.
